Peter Kennard at Imperial War Museum
Peter Kennard is Britain’s most important political artist whose imagery has become synonymous with the modern protest movement. This first major retrospective of his work demonstrates how Kennard has consistently confronted issues in world politics and British governmental policy both at home and abroad, inspiring many of today’s politically-aware artists from Mark Wallinger to Banksy. His imagery has become synonymous with the modern protest movement. He'll be signing copies of his new book, Unofficial War Artist, based on the first major retrospective exhibition of his work at IWM London, Peter Kennard: Unofficial War Artist.
Roderick Coyne • AGROUND
Roderick Coyne’s installation of painterly photographic images of steps leading down into the sea from an area local to Folkestone is currently showing at the Sassoon Gallery located in the town’s Museum and Library. His images are a series of large wall pieces using photographic media and a hyper realistic painterly technique which interrupts the real and imagined. Each work is a reflection of the works placed opposite and denote different times of the day. An interesting play on moment and the art of image making.
Those members of the RCA Society who couldn’t join us for the opening view on Saturday afternoon still have plenty of time to visit the exhibition which is open for a month till 12 June.
With all the WW2 commemorations currently taking place in the country the Gallery and Library are also showing local Memorabilia from the second World War. This will be followed by an exhibition “Folkestone in the Great War”.

John Kaine Celebrates
The RCA Society proudly presents a dynamic membership which spans ageless generations - John Kaine’s celebrated his birthday on 13 January... (this year, luckily, a Tuesday). John studied Fine Art (Painting) at the Royal College in the late 1950's. Amongst other things he taught at Maidstone School of Art for a number of years, and ran the London marathon many times. Friends and family got together for a celebratory feast in the cool “Duke of Cambridge” pub, Islington... Lots of good food, fun and great stories as ever. See John’s website links:
