P3 is a 14.000 square ft space developed from the vast former concrete construction hall for the University 01 Westminster's School of Engineering. Built in the 1960's, its dramatic and impressives scale offers opportunities for a range of creative activities involving the academic community from the Schools of Architecture and Built Environment, and Media, Arts and Design.

"From Floor to Sky" is a major exhibition of British art to be held at P3 Gallery, in Central London, in Spring 2010. The exhibition is curated by the influential teacher Peter Kardia and the 27 contributing artists have been selected from the long list of his one-time students from both St Martin's School of Art and the Royal College of Art. Each artist has been asked to contribute two pieces of work: one from the earliest period of their career and one contemporary piece.
In association with the show, A&C Black are publishing a hardback book which will both serve as a catalogue and have the status of a stand-alone publication. As well as illustrating the work of the contributing artists, this publication contains three extensive essays - one by Peter Kardia himself outlining his teaching philosophy, one by Malcolm LeGrice investigating the history of art teaching in general and one by Hester Westley examining Peter Kardia's teaching at St Martins in particular.

Talking Art Education
Before, during and after the “From Floor to Sky” exhibition a series of talks/seminars will be situated within the institutions where Peter developed the A Course (Central St Martins School of Art - formally St Martins School of Art located in Charing Cross Road, London) and Environmental Media Department (Royal College of Art, Kensington Gore, London), and ‘P3’ galleries (Westminster University, Marylebone Road, London). These three spaces will initially provide three opportunities to stage public discussions on art education. In terms of locating the debate we might also consider other cultural and educational institutions in London and the UK. Currently these links are being built.
