RCA Fine Art Degree Shows 2011
Fine Art: Sculpture - Painting - Printmaking - Photography
This was the first year that ‘Fine Art’ Degree shows took place in the new purpose built Studios in the College’s Battersea campus*. All these disciplines converged in Howie Street - merging practice boundaries and interspersing performance and zany kinetic installations with the more traditional wall works and static monoliths.
The Sculpture School, which was the first settlement in the Howie Street campus has now been joined by the “Sackler” Building which houses the Painting School. On the horizon is the Dyson Building, which aims to ‘mix artists and designers together - by bringing in the printmakers and photographers and the “InnovationRCA” designer seedbed, gallery, and public exhibition space. Alongside the (£2.5m) HEFC funding for the Howie Street development project stands (£4m) from the US philanthropic “Sackler Foundation” and (£5m) from UK “James Dyson Foundation”.
