The date of 28-29-30 June 2019

The Open Days will take place on Tuesday 25 June and Wednesday 26 June in 2019.

In 2019, annual Festival out onto Exhibition Road for a weekend of art and science.

This year, the Imperial Festival will take place as part of The Great Exhibition Road Festival

The Great Exhibition Road Festival is a new three-day celebration of curiosity, discovery and exploration in South Kensington. The Festival is a collaboration between 19 cultural institutions including Imperial College London, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the V&A and the Royal Albert Hall.

Join us for a weekend that brings together science and the arts in a unique programme of creative workshops, talks, exhibitions and performances - all in the spirit of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s vision for the Great Exhibition, 200 years on from when they were born.

The event will be coordinated by the team behind Imperial’s own Festival, which attracted over 20,000 members of the public for its seventh iteration in 2018. For 2019, the organisers believe a similar ethos can help The Great Road Exhibition Festival provide an even larger platform for the College staff and students to engage new communities and audiences.

We believe the range of partnering organisations will lead to unique collaborations between scientists, artists and other creative partners, giving the public the sort of one-off experience that Exhibition Road is uniquely placed to provide. This approach could include talks, workshops and zones of live demos and interactive experiments delivered in other organisations' spaces to help introduce Imperial to new audiences.

The story so far

What started as a modest pilot project in 2012 to explore how Imperial College London might share its research with more people in new ways has now evolved into the College’s flagship public event. In 2018 more than 20,000 public and alumni visitors descended on Imperial’s South Kensington campus to enjoy the interactive stands, workshops, tours, talks and performances on offer.
